Today's ( Sunday) lesson was mid-day, because my instructor had somebody else in the coveted (less traffic and wind) morning slot. Oh well, I got it yesterday :-).

Wx was bright and sunny. Wind calm. Air smooth as glass.

We went to HWD to do yet some more T&Gs. He did ask if I'd like to try someplace else. I responded that it was surely more fun to go to other airports, but it was expensive to do so.

They turned out pretty nice this time. I can really feel it coming together now: doing a nice lazy turn to final, holding airspeed at 70, aiming right at the numbers - heretheycome heretheycome heretheycome.... then flaring when the wing's shadow appears on the tarmac ( yeah, I know that won't always work :-)....

Even the bad ones were better than a week ago. Still pursuing that taildragger holy grail, though: touching the tailwheel first.

He taught me that when you've flared as far as you can, the nose is pointing way up in the air, and that darned tailwheel won't touch, you feed it some power. I'm not sure what this is supposed to do, but I'll sure be giving it a try....any day now :-).

We came back to PAO, I set up to land on their little tiny runway. Did pretty good, too. He only grabbed the controls in the middle of the flare. :-).
